Writing

I write screenplays, audio scripts, and games. I gravitate toward projects that involve horror, education, and interactivity.

The Horror from Above

This is a short horror screenplay I wrote, all about my fear of the air conditioners that dangle precariously out of the New York City’s windows.

Interview Game

This is a piece of interactive fiction I wrote and built using Twine. It’s loosely inspired by my experience as a radio producer and fact checker — and the 2020 presidential election — with some alien conspiracy sprinkled in. Ultimately, I plan to make this into an interactive audio experience.

How to Remember Names

I researched, wrote, and voiced this 10-part audio course teaching science-backed strategies for remembering names. To keep things interesting, I set this sound-rich course in a time machine, having listeners remember the names of notable people from the past, including Arthur Conan Doyle, Anna May Wong, and Mary Ann Shadd.

Screenplays

Man Baby - horror feature - two gay men, desperate for a child, move to a remote town for a ritual that will help them have a baby. When one of them becomes pregnant, their relationship and their bodies burst open under the pressure of parenthood.

Gayliens - horror comedy feature - Frank will do anything to get back together with his instagay ex, Ben. Even if it means fighting through alien-possessed partiers at a Halloween circuit party.

Boys - horror feature - 4 childhood friends reunite in an isolated cabin. They won’t be able to leave - or survive - until they embrace their complicated brotherly love.

Data Harvest - found footage horror feature - Lisa is hired to manage data security at a major tech company’s “smart city” neighborhood. When she discovers how the company is using personal data, she risks her life to share the truth.

Chompers

Chompers is a twice-daily toothbrushing show for kids. I wrote the fourteen two-minute episodes that make up Chompers’ Cooking Week. That involved doing things like figuring out how to explain how microwaves work and cooking a meal with the Top Chef Junior champion. In this linked episode, I came up with a variation of the show’s True/False format called “Kitchen Yes or Kitchen Mess,” and tried to keep it fun while teaching kids some basic kitchen safety and etiquette.

The Max Grindr Experience

I spent a few months talking to gay guys from rural NH and VT using the gay dating app Grindr. I wrote about my discoveries along the way in an essay published on 40towns.

This piece won Dartmouth College's 2016 Mecklin Prize for Creative Nonfiction. It was presented as part of the 2014 Strafford Town House Reading Series.
